Milwaukee Tool announced the addition of a new manufacturing facility in Grenada, Mississippi, to its U.S. footprint. The 500,000-square-foot facility is expected to create 1,200 jobs in the surrounding area.

The new facility, which is set to open in late 2022, will increase the capacity for the company’s expanding power tool accessories and power tool business. According to Milwaukee, the plant will create 1,200 jobs in the area.

Milwaukee Tool Group President Steve Richman in a statement, “Our new Grenada facility, as well as our ongoing investments in U.S. operations and manufacturing, will allow us to continue to serve our distribution partners and users with the speed, agility, and unparalleled levels of innovation that they’ve come to expect from Milwaukee Tool.”

Milwaukee announced a $60 million investment in advanced technology and manufacturing equipment to support the operation of the 500,000-square-foot Grenada manufacturing facility.

During the last decade, the company’s employee headcount in the state has increased from 526 in 2010 to more than 2,343 in 2020.

“We’re thrilled to continue expanding our presence in Mississippi, where we have been fortunate to attract, retain, and recruit some of the best talents in the country. The bookends to our success continue to be our people and our culture.” Richman continued.

Of the 1,200 jobs that Milwaukee will bring to the region, 800 will be located in the new Grenada facility, with the remaining 400 spread across their existing Mississippi locations.

Since 1924, Milwaukee has designed, engineered, and manufactured products in the United States.

Milwaukee Tool’s parent company, Techtronic Industries led by Joe Galli, CEO added, “Throughout the last decade, Milwaukee Tool has experienced rapid growth across the globe, with sales growing more than 20% each year. Amid this growth, we’re going to continue aggressively investing in our product development, and diversifying our manufacturing base through expansion projects in the United States.”

Milwaukee has invested $368 million in domestic expansion projects in the last five years alone, and the company now employs 5,500 people in the United States.

Greenwood, Olive Branch, and Jackson Mississippi, as well as Brookfield, Menomonee Falls, Mukwonago, and Sun Prairie Wisconsin, and Greenwood IN, currently have manufacturing, distribution, and operations presences across the country.

In addition, last year, the company announced plans for a new hand tool manufacturing plant in West Bend Wisconsin, which is set to open in 2022.
