TK Elevator Obtains 100% Renewable Electricity at Atlanta’s Innovation and Qualification Center

By   /

Since the beginning of 2022, TK Elevator has achieved 100% renewable electricity through a green tariff at its Innovation and Qualification Center (IQC) in Atlanta.

Cobb EMC (Electric Membership Corporation), which serves approximately 200,000 homes and businesses in the metro Atlanta area, is IQC’s energy supplier.

This achievement is in line with TK Elevator’s goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity across all of its global operations by 2030.

As evidence of this dedication, TK Elevator recently joined RE100, a global renewable electricity initiative centered on a pledge to source 100% renewable electricity. TK Elevator is one of over 350 leading companies that have joined RE100.

RE100 is led by the Climate Group in collaboration with CDP, which has awarded TK Elevator its prestigious ‘A’ rating for climate transparency and action every year since the company became independent.

“We are committing countless resources towards making the world safer and healthier, including purchasing renewable electricity. How we source energy is a priority for our company as we work to achieve our ambitious carbon targets,” Kevin Lavallee, CEO of Business Unit North America and Group COO Field, stated.

Senior Sustainability Manager Business Unit North America Monica Miller Brown added: “We are pleased to partner with Cobb EMC for our renewable energy needs, which has not only helped us in our pursuit to achieve our tough energy goals but with our LEED Gold certification for this landmark building as well.”

The IQC received LEED Gold certification earlier this year, making it one of only a few buildings in the world with an elevator test tower to do so.

It is the second LEED Gold-certified TK Elevator building in North America. The first was TK Elevator’s Middleton, Tennessee, manufacturing facility, which has achieved 50% renewable electricity to date by sourcing renewable energy credits each year.
