Latest DAP Sealant Made to Reduce Sound Transmission

By   /

DAP’s Sound Block E90 is the brand’s latest wall & floor sealant.

Its design reduces sound transmission with the help of penetrations in a property’s walls and floors.

The product also improves STC ratings in sound-rated applications.

“Sound Block E90 offers general contractors, builders and drywall installers an easy to use acoustical sealant for sealing top and bottom runners, cut-outs and perimeter joints that passes all industry standards for sound transmission while also reducing smoke migration and drafts,” says Justin Lingenfelser, product manager at DAP.

The product’s ideal use is for openings around electrical boxes, cut-outs, duct systems, pipes and other types of penetrating utility equipment.

It is also recommended for corner joints, abutting surfaces, and other perimeter edges.

It meets the standards for ASTM E90, C919 and E84/UL723.

Other benefits include smoke reduction and draft penetration.

“It is designed to gun easily and tool smoothly in all temperatures, not slump or sag, and maintains excellent adhesion on a variety of substrates,” continues Justin Lingenfelser.

The Sound Block E90 comes in 28 fl. oz. plastic cartridges which make for easy gun application.

The formula allows for use within two hours, ideal cold weather performance, offers strong multi-material adhesion and cleans quickly using water.

Customers can purchase the product at lumberyards and building material distributors starting in June 2020.
